We are excited to announce that April was a very active month for the PRBA and its members. As we continue to engage and contribute as key players in the issues that affect our island, members of the Board of Directors participated in key meetings and forums in way to share our views on the development of a much stronger economy for the collective benefit of the construction industry and our associates.April 2019 PRBA agenda included:
April 4,2019 - Meet with the Secretary of Public Affairs, Philippe Mesa Pabón, esq., to discuss among others the important issue of the increase in the housing construction costs, the incentive code and the proposal of the Federal Treasury on property tax.
April 9, 2019 - Meet with Janet Golrick, Assistant Deputy Secretary HUD- this meeting in which members of the PRBA Board of Directors, Emilio Colón Zavala, PE, chairman, Alfredo Martínez-Álvarez, Jr, vice-chairman of the board and Arq. Vanessa de Mari, secretary had the opportunity to address to the Assistant Deputy Secretary and Efraín Maldonado, director of the HUD in Puerto Rico on the importance of the housing and economic recuperation of Puerto Rico after the 2017 hurricanes.April 10, 2019 - Our chairman, Emilio Colón- Zavala, PE, participated as one of the panelists of the “Environmental Challenges on the Reconstruction Process” event organized by the Alumni Association of the Business Administration Faculty of the University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras Campus.April 11, 2019 - Our Chairman met with members of the “Surveys & Investigations” group of the House Committee of Appropriations to discuss among other things the recently introduced legislation to provide robust and comprehensive assistance to help recover and rebuild those jurisdictions affected by natural disasters.
